In the Linen Rental Industry, very few linens and aprons are removed from service due to wear. In most cases, merchandise is removed from service due to either visible stains, color fading or because they are obsolete colors. Too often, these items are discarded into landfills where like fiberglass; it never breaks down - contributing to local landfill volume issues. Meanwhile, over the past few years black has become an exceedingly popular color for linens, aprons and mats. To address both the high cost of supply as well as the environmental landfill issue, CIMA Color Solutions has taken a leadership position within the Linen Rental Industry and developed a cost effective environmentally friendly Green program.

Linen Rental companies are partnering with CIMA Color Solutions to provide a North American solution to recycle obsolete and stained linens, and aprons by over-dyeing them to black, green, red, navy, charcoal, and other beautiful dye colors. We even offer custom colors, based on volume. Mats are dyed to a "like new" black color. This is a win-win program – it’s a win for the environment because we reduce/eliminate landfilling and it’s a huge win to our customer’s bottom lines because it saves significant dollars per year on black linens, aprons, and mats purchases. The all-inclusive cost to over-dye is usually 40% to 60% less than purchasing new black products.

The CIMA Colors over-dye process can cover or remove almost any stain, thereby dramatically reducing or eliminating the need to purchase new black items. Linen companies use grading procedures to sort items to over-dye.

Collected linen items and mats are packed in reusable shipping containers that are capable of being stacked to reduce plant floor space requirements.
